Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead Engineering for Lightspeed Capital. The Director will be a key leader in the Capital group, working with cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment of goals. The role involves leading and working closely with Engineering Managers and Software Developers, providing clear direction and ensuring quality outcomes, while growing a diverse, happy, and high-performing organization. The position is located in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa) and offers fully remote, partially remote, or fully office-based work environments.

Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of software engineering principles and technologies
  • Experience with mainstream technology stacks (Node, JVM, .NET, etc.)
  • Expertise in software architecture and design of scalable systems
  • Experience in modern software delivery practices
  • Operational Excellence Mindset
  • People management experience
  • Experience leading other leaders in a software engineering organization
  • Experience working with cross-functional leaders
  • Experience owning technology/product for a clear line of business
  • Experience working in product engineering and/or SaaS software delivery is a plus
