Team Manager, Alignment RL

Job Description

Anthropic is seeking a Team Manager for Alignment RL to lead a team focused on developing and implementing new alignment techniques for language models. This role involves partnering with research leads to drive critical alignment initiatives, supporting team member growth, and ensuring smooth collaboration across the organization. The Team Manager will help create an environment that fosters technical excellence while maintaining a focus on making AI systems more reliable and aligned with human values. This position is based in San Francisco, with at least 3 days per week in the office.Role involves:

• Partnering with the research lead to develop and execute the team’s roadmap
• Building and improving processes for evaluating the effectiveness of the team’s alignment interventions
• Coordinating cross-functional collaboration between Alignment Finetuning and other teams
• Supporting the development and growth of researchers and engineers
• Driving recruiting efforts to grow the team

Requirements:

• 5+ years of technical experience in software engineering, ML/AI, or related field
• 2+ years of experience managing technical teams
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Ability to take ownership over team output and performance
• Experience supporting and enabling research teams
• Ability to build strong relationships across stakeholder groups
• Care deeply about AI safety and alignment
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
