Job Description

Anthropic is seeking a Backend/Platform Software Engineer to join its Product Foundations organization. This role involves building foundational primitives that accelerate product development across Anthropic. The engineer will work on core platform components such as rate limiting, LLM sampling, and multimodal processing. They will collaborate with product teams to understand their needs and build platform capabilities that accelerate feature delivery.Responsibilities include:

• Building and scaling platform components to handle Anthropic’s rapid growth.
• Designing and architecting platform components that are composable and deliver value for a variety of use cases.
• Collaborating closely with product teams to understand their needs and build platform capabilities that accelerate their feature delivery.
• Making build vs buy decisions, evaluating and implementing 3rd party solutions when most impactful.
• Setting technical direction and vision for various product and platform features.
• Partnering with research to quickly prototype and launch new capabilities based on research breakthroughs.

Requirements include:

• 6+ years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong coding skills and experience with service-oriented architectures.
• Experience in early start-up or fast-moving environments.
• Ability to take full ownership of work and navigate ambiguity.
• Comfort in diving into any part of the system.
• Enjoyment in working with a fast-paced team.
• Product-focused approach.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience.
