Job Description
DRW is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join their Unified Platform Support team in London. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, providing support for sophisticated research and compliance tools used across the firm. This role requires 3 days in-office per week and offers the opportunity to delve into issues and code.DRW's team works with low latency financial market data, order data, and sophisticated analytics tools, utilizing technologies such as AWS, Java 17, Python 3, HDF5, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Argo. The team is globally distributed and values a respectful and diverse culture, prioritizing business impact and data-driven decisions.Responsibilities:
  • Operate key parts of a sophisticated data analysis pipeline
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production jobs
  • Monitor and address data-related issues, including code investigation
  • Consult with developers for issue resolution and system improvements
  • Monitor support channels and respond to user issues
  • Provide L1 and L2 support, collaborating with developers on L3 support
  • Onboard support processes for new development teams and applications
Requirements:
  • Experience supporting high-performance applications in the financial markets industry
  • Experience supporting Linux environments
  • Experience with market data or order data systems
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with financial data transfer protocols (FIX, native protocols)
  • Exposure to object-oriented code (Java, Python preferred)
  • Familiarity with version control software (git or svn)
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS preferred)
  • SQL experience (queries, updates, table creation, basic database maintenance)
  • Exposure to data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Delta Lake (useful but not mandatory)
