Job Description
The New York Times Company is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide legal guidance on AI and generative AI products. The Senior Counsel will report to the Senior Vice President & Assistant General Counsel. This role involves advising on legal issues, developing governance frameworks, and negotiating AI-related contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Primary contact for AI and generative AI legal issues.
- Provide legal advice and risk mitigation strategies for products.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to facilitate AI technology employment.
- Partner with internal clients to develop governance and product review frameworks.
- Draft and negotiate AI-related contracts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor developments in technology law and industry trends.
- Educate and train teams on legal implications and best practices.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate and J.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
- Current member of the New York bar.
- 10+ years’ relevant work experience in product counseling, technology law, commercial contracts, and intellectual property.
- 2+ years of generative AI and AI product counseling and governance for technology and media.
- Experience analyzing complex regulatory material.
