Job Description
Wayve is seeking a Director of Application Software to lead the architecture, development, and delivery of application-layer software libraries. This role involves defining and implementing robust software integration frameworks compatible with various automotive OS and middleware stacks. The Director will collaborate with platform engineering, system integration, product, and customer engineering teams to ensure consistent product behavior across deployment environments.
Responsibilities:
- Own the application-layer software architecture.
- Lead the development of reusable libraries and interfaces.
- Define and maintain abstraction layers for target systems.
- Ensure compatibility with Linux, QNX, and Adaptive AUTOSAR.
- Collaborate with system architecture and product teams.
- Ensure software interfaces comply with industry standards.
- Hire, lead, and mentor an application software team.
- Drive quality and robustness.
- Work directly with OEM and Tier 1 partners.
- Serve as the technical point of contact.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 5+ years in a leadership role in automotive or embedded systems.
- Expertise in C++, Python, and system-level programming.
- Experience integrating AI workloads into automotive software stacks.
- Understanding of virtualization, hypervisors, and automotive middleware.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 and functional safety considerations.
- Experience building and leading high-performance engineering teams.
