Job Description
Global Atlantic Financial Group is seeking a Statutory Reporting Associate to join their team in Des Moines, Iowa. The Associate will also oversee audits and audited financial statements, assist with statutory information requests, and lead a small team. The position requires interaction with various departments, including Planning & Analysis, Actuarial, Investment, Reinsurance, Tax, Legal, and Compliance.Responsibilities:- Learn statutory reporting, reinsurance transactions, and accounting for investments.
- Review and approve journal entries and reconcile ledger to source information.
- Oversee internal reinsurance settlements quarterly.
- Review quarterly and annual schedules for regulatory filings.
- Provide financial analysis for projects and initiatives.
- Assist with external audits and examinations.
- Research and compile information for ad-hoc requests.
- Identify weaknesses in internal SOX controls and recommend improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5-7 years of experience in the insurance industry or public accounting, including some management experience.
- Experience in Statutory, IFRS, or US GAAP accounting in a life insurance company is preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and work ethic.
- Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger, Business Object Enterprise, Hyperion Financial Management, and Essbase is preferred.
