Job Description
Leaseweb is seeking a Senior System Engineer to join their Public Cloud Scalability team in Amsterdam. The Product Engineering team consists of approximately 90 engineers working in small scrum teams with end-to-end responsibility for specific products or architecture parts. The Senior System Engineer will manage the Public Cloud infrastructure, including Linux systems, networking components, and the virtualization layer. The primary goal is to provide a reliable and scalable infrastructure. The role involves designing and implementing scalable cloud infrastructures, convincing peers and stakeholders, and mentoring other team members.
The team comprises DevOps engineers with diverse expertise focused on building and operating Leaseweb’s Public Cloud. The objective is to create reliable platforms and interfaces with trustworthy endpoints for user integration through the API and Customer Portal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, implementing, and monitoring the Public Cloud infrastructure
- Leading the implementation of repetitive and complex tasks
- Ensuring the availability of all Public Cloud services
- Performing regular on-call duty
- Identifying and proposing solutions for improvements or structural problems
- Providing 3rd line incident support
Requirements:
- Experience with Python (or Golang) for automation and testing
- Knowledge of Linux operating systems, preferably Ubuntu; Shell/Bash experience is an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU, and libvirt)
- Experience with configuration management methodologies and tools (Chef, Kubernetes)
- Experience managing MySQL and Galera clusters
- Switch Management (Arista/Juniper)
- Experience with monitoring platforms: Prometheus, Nagios/Icinga
- Driven to improve quality and prevent incidents
- Good command of written and spoken English
