Job Description
Xometry is seeking a Staff Computational Engineer to enhance its automated design for manufacturing (DFM) tools. The ideal candidate will analyze three-dimensional models, combining features with manufacturing constraints. This role requires expertise in computational geometry, algorithm analysis, and code design.Responsibilities include:
  • Designing and implementing computational algorithms for manufacturing processes.
  • Developing algorithms to extract geometric features from 2D and 3D CAD models.
  • Developing algorithms to detect Design for Manufacturability (DFM) issues.
  • Identifying solutions for problems involving geometry, topology, and numerical analysis.
  • Leveraging machine learning and AI to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborating with operations, product teams, data scientists, and software engineers.
  • Documenting code and algorithms.
  • Staying updated on advancements in computational engineering.
Requirements include:
  • M.S. or PhD in applied math, physics, computer science, or engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in applying computational methods.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE systems.
  • Experience developing geometric modeling kernels.
  • Experience with HOOPS Exchange API, PRC and DXF format.
  • Research experience in computational geometry or related fields.
  • Proficiency in linear algebra, calculus, numerical methods.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials science.
  • Fluent in C++ (C++11/14/17).
  • Proficiency in software engineering best practices.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR).
