Job Description
Xometry is seeking a Staff Computational Engineer to enhance its automated design for manufacturing (DFM) tools. The ideal candidate will analyze three-dimensional models, combining features with manufacturing constraints. This role requires expertise in computational geometry, algorithm analysis, and code design.Responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing computational algorithms for manufacturing processes.
- Developing algorithms to extract geometric features from 2D and 3D CAD models.
- Developing algorithms to detect Design for Manufacturability (DFM) issues.
- Identifying solutions for problems involving geometry, topology, and numerical analysis.
- Leveraging machine learning and AI to improve efficiency.
- Collaborating with operations, product teams, data scientists, and software engineers.
- Documenting code and algorithms.
- Staying updated on advancements in computational engineering.
Requirements include:
- M.S. or PhD in applied math, physics, computer science, or engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in applying computational methods.
- Experience with CAD/CAE systems.
- Experience developing geometric modeling kernels.
- Experience with HOOPS Exchange API, PRC and DXF format.
- Research experience in computational geometry or related fields.
- Proficiency in linear algebra, calculus, numerical methods.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials science.
- Fluent in C++ (C++11/14/17).
- Proficiency in software engineering best practices.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (ITAR).
