Job Description
Forter is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Observability team in London. This role is at the intersection of software development and platform engineering, contributing to tools and systems that improve visibility and reliability across the engineering organization. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building high-quality systems and expanding their expertise in observability and distributed systems.
What this role involves:
- Designing, building, and maintaining observability tools and infrastructure.
- Collaborating with other engineers to enhance the developer experience around monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing.
- Developing internal tooling to simplify the process of instrumenting and observing services.
- Partnering with engineering teams to improve incident response and ensure systems meet reliability targets.
- Supporting the migration from a legacy ELK stack to a modern observability platform.
- Contributing to knowledge sharing and the development of best practices in observability.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, or Ruby).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Experience with observability tools and platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Honeycomb, Loki).
- A strong interest in developer experience and platform tooling.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A proactive mindset focused on long-term impact and continuous improvement.
