Job Description
Pure Storage is seeking a Hardware Quality Engineer to join their Hyperscale Business Unit Operations team. This role focuses on ensuring product quality and operational excellence across the cloud storage server supply chain. The engineer will be at the forefront of flash storage and hyperscale infrastructure, owning quality oversight for servers and flash modules, supporting new product introductions, onboarding new contract manufacturers, and driving manufacturing excellence globally.
Role involves:
- Leading quality oversight at system-level, PCBA/SMT, and mechanical assembly stages.
- Validating and troubleshooting hardware builds and driving root cause analysis.
- Defining QA procedures and implementing robust processes at partner sites.
- Reviewing and acting on yield/quality data across manufacturing stages.
- Supporting onboarding of new contract manufacturers and joint-development manufacturers.
- Performing supplier audits and driving supplier performance improvements.
- Maintaining relationships with ODM/JDM/CM partners.
- Automating QA tasks and improving reporting using Python scripts.
- Managing PXE-based test setups for server validation.
- Partnering with Hardware Design, Commodity Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure quality.
- Performing validation of new hardware prior to mass production.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in PCBA/SMT, mechanical assembly, and server-level manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of mechanicals, PCBs, PSUs, and high-density flash drive assemblies.
- Familiarity with IPC standards, ISO compliance, and supplier quality methods.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing data and quality KPIs.
- Excellent documentation, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
