Engineering Manager (Cloud and DevOps tooling)

Job Description

Smartly is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on Cloud & DevOps Tooling within their Infrastructure & Production group. This team is responsible for cloud infrastructure development and building tools that automate infrastructure processes, handling petabytes of data monthly. The company is moving towards a Hybrid Cloud environment, leveraging both public and private cloud solutions. The role involves enhancing developer effectiveness through CI tools like GitHub Actions and a development environment management tool called Devbox.Responsibilities:

• Lead an autonomous Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps Tooling team.
• Drive cloud strategy at a company-wide level.
• Facilitate the team and enable their growth.
• Care about team members' development and remove blockers.
• Tackle ambitious technical problems and contribute to the engineering culture.

Requirements:

• Experienced people leader with proven ability in building and leading high-performing teams.
• Experience throughout the full software life-cycle in an environment with multiple teams.
• Experience in building and maintaining large-scale, high-availability public cloud infrastructures.
• Experience in agile development practices.
• Ability to deliver constructive feedback.
• Empathetic and user-focused with a deep understanding of developer experience.
• Skilled engineer capable of hands-on coaching, code reviews, and pair programming.
• Ability and willingness to work from our Helsinki office three days a week.
