Product Lead (Data Delivery & Governance)

Job Description

Takealot.com is seeking a Product Lead for Data Delivery & Governance to join their team in Cape Town. The role involves creating and facilitating the delivery of key focus areas such as data collection, data monetisation, and data governance. The Product Lead will collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure the collection of relevant business insights.

Responsibilities:

• Owning all event mechanisms across the Takealot Group, namely GA4 and a proprietary event tracking system.
• Creating and enforcing event naming standardisation.
• Monitoring event emissions and alerting on significant drops.
• Working with the commercial head of Data Monetisation to create data products and unlock revenue opportunities.
• Project managing 3rd party data integrations as enrichment layers to existing and future data products.
• Sharing data with 3rd parties, ensuring adherence to data governance requirements.
• Working with data teams to configure and define how data can be easily discoverable by end users.
• Ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations while monetising data products.
• Identifying opportunities for driving meaningful business results through data solutions.

Requirements:

• 9+ years of related and transferable experience or 5+ years of product management experience.
• Experience leading and executing cross-functional projects.
• Familiarity and proficiency with agile methods and tools.
• A solid understanding of data engineering and analytics fundamentals.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL and BigQuery or a similar technology.
• Experience with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
• Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Science, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, or Computer Science.
