Senior Product Engineer - AI Platform

Intercom is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join their AI Infrastructure team in Dublin. The successful candidate will help Intercom build AI-powered products, working closely with ML engineers and scientists. They will deeply understand the product, ML tech stack, and development process, contributing to a platform that adapts quickly to new AI advancements while ensuring service reliability.

What this role involves:

• Building systems that power Intercom’s flagship AI products, primarily using the ML Python tech stack, and occasionally the Rails app.
• Collaborating with ML engineers and scientists to transition proof-of-concept code into robust, scalable production systems.
• Partnering with ML teams to develop the underlying platform that enhances AI-powered product experiences for customers.
• Contributing to all stages of software development, from ideation and prototyping to implementation and testing.
• Actively participating in the hiring, mentoring, and career development of fellow engineers.
• Elevating technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence within the group and across Intercom.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience shipping high-quality backend products with demonstrated impact.
• Strong technical fundamentals and a passion for continuous learning and development.
• Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language (e.g., Python, Ruby).
• A strong drive to achieve positive outcomes.
• Ability to investigate and understand any part of the tech stack.
• A bias towards progress over perfection.
• Enthusiasm for advancements in the AI space.
