Principal Engineer

Intercom is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead strategic initiatives and drive technical excellence. The Principal Engineer will work autonomously, contributing to both back-end and front-end systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. They will also mentor other engineers and contribute to technical strategy.

What this role involves:

• Driving key strategic projects within the R&D organization.
• Providing assessments of project progress, risks, and challenges to engineering leadership.
• Contributing to Intercom's technical architecture.
• Participating in all phases of software development.
• Playing an active role in hiring, mentoring, and career development.
• Raising the bar for technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

Requirements:

• Experience building a SaaS product.
• Demonstrated impact on product and teams.
• Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• 2+ years of experience as a technical leader.
• Experience collaborating with technical leaders, product teams, and designers.
