Intercom is seeking a Staff Core Technologies Engineer to join their team in Dublin, Ireland. This role focuses on enabling the core technologies that Intercom is built on, with a passion for building and scaling systems like MySQL and ElasticSearch.

The Staff Engineer will accelerate Intercom’s growth and stability through educated and operationally excellent core technology usage. This involves helping product engineers and ML scientists build simpler, more performant products faster.

What this role involves:

• Collaborating with domain experts to shape technical direction and infrastructure.
• Owning aspects of Intercom's infrastructure and executing high-impact projects.
• Writing application code, automating systems, and improving observability.
• Contributing to all phases of software development.
• Playing an active role in hiring, mentoring, and career development of other engineers.
• Raising the bar for technical standards and operational excellence.

Requirements:

• Excellent pragmatic engineering and decision-making skills.
• 8+ years of experience in a production environment.
• Expertise in backend technologies such as MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Linux.
• Experience scaling a SaaS product.
• Proficiency with standard software engineering methodologies.
• Deep understanding of modern web applications and distributed systems.
