Job Description

PENN Entertainment is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their Data team. The Data Science team is responsible for building models, forecasts, and simulations to help improve theScore Bet, ESPN Bet and iCasino products. The ideal candidate will be creative, collaborative, and possess a strong sense of ownership.

This role involves working closely with data and infrastructure engineers to deploy models and develop data pipelines to build data products. The Data Scientist will also develop best practices for internal data processes, design and build new predictive models, and collaborate with other members of the Data Science and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Machine learning & statistical modeling to predict outcomes across different sports.
• AB Testing to inform product and feature development.
• Predictive & Prescriptive Analytics to share in-depth knowledge on feature performance and forecast accuracy.
• Developing pipelines and models in collaboration with data and infrastructure engineers.
• Developing best practices for internal data processes.
• Designing and building new predictive models and optimization routines.
• Collaborating with Data Science and Engineering teams.
• Deploying modeling deliverables with functional team leaders and stakeholders.
• Analyzing results using statistical methods to improve data products.
• Communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Writing and maintaining technical documentation.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist.
• Experience solving quantitative problems with MLB Sports modelling data.
• A firm grasp of utilizing sport-specific problem-solving techniques to model various elements of the game.
• The ability to dynamically project various aspects of player and team performance.
• Proficiency in developing simulations replicating the dynamics and intricacies of a sporting game.
• Proficient at writing code in Python and SQL.
• Experienced at creating algorithms, features, and applying machine learning data models to solve sports problems.
• Understanding of classification, regression and forecasting models, and A/B testing.
• Experience provisioning services using GitHub.
• Ability to take ownership of your work.
