Principal Engineer

Job Description

Via is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Software Engineer to join their R&D center in Tel Aviv. The candidate will be a key member of a cross-functional team, collaborating with multiple development teams to develop infrastructure, tooling, and standards for infrastructure and infra-related coding across the company's R&D.This role involves research, programming, building scalable systems, and hands-on operational work in production environments. The candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation, impacting millions of riders globally.What this role involves:

• Developing and leading a long-term vision and strategy for Via’s infrastructure and tooling.
• Creating scalable, reliable, and efficient systems.
• Engaging in hands-on coding and development.
• Participating in day-to-day production operations.
• Collaborating with various development teams.
• Working across a broad spectrum of technological disciplines.

Requirements:

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in backend and infrastructure development.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Python, Go, Rust, Java, C, C#, or C++.
• Experience in large-scale production microservices environments and DevOps operations.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker and Kubernetes).
• Ability to move between teams and projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
