Mechanic

Job Description

Sioux Area Metro (SAM) by Via, South Dakota’s largest transportation provider, is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain buses and equipment. This role involves performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on buses, automotive equipment, and shop equipment. The Mechanic will work with other maintenance workers, drivers, and transportation supervisors, and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.

• Repair and/or replace subsystems of SAM coaches and automotive equipment.
• Work with maintenance workers, drivers, and supervisors.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of the design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of systems and subsystems of SAM coaches and related shop equipment.
• Ability to work on their feet for eight hours per day and lift 100 pounds.
• Excellent manual dexterity.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent, including trade or vocational school.
• Valid SD driver’s license and ability to obtain a CDL permit.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
