Senior Backend Engineer (Avalor)

Job Description

Zscaler is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Engineering team, specifically working on the Avalor project. Avalor focuses on curating and contextualizing data from security and business tools to help companies address their security risks. The Senior Backend Engineer will report to the Manager, Software Engineering and will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality, scalable backend services within a microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, experience with cloud technologies, and a passion for improving security posture.Role involves:

• Developing and maintaining high-quality, scalable backend services using Java/Spring Boot and Python within a microservices architecture.
• Participating in design from scratch to production.
• Delivering high-quality features for a high-scale web environment.
• Monitoring the performance and cost of services in production.
• Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
• Integrating with backend, frontend, product, and UX teams.
• Mentoring junior engineers and sharing expertise.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in programming in at least one of the following programming language: Java, C#, Python, Go, Scala, C, C++, Ruby
• Proven experience in developing SaaS applications.
• Proficiency in microservices environment, including experience with AWS, Kubernetes.
• B.Sc. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with message brokers and queues, such as RabbitMQ or Amazon SQS.
• Proficiency in various data stores such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redshift, Snowflake, and Elastic.
