Gusto is seeking a Sr Staff AI Software Engineer to integrate conversational and agentic AI into its products for small and medium businesses. This role involves enhancing existing product experiences through intelligent application of AI technologies.

The Role Involves:

• Understanding the customer journey and identifying opportunities to simplify and automate through AI.
• Designing and building multi-agent AI systems to automate customer workflows.
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to bring AI-powered experiences to life.
• Iterating on AI-driven features to improve customer outcomes.
• Supporting Payroll and Tax teams in applying AI to build intuitive experiences for internal and external users.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of software development experience.
• Expertise in Agentic AI, Machine Learning, and LLMs.
• Product-minded with creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical complexity.
