Job Description
Gusto is seeking a Staff Engineer to join its Databases Infrastructure team. This role involves building and maintaining consistent, scalable, and secure storage infrastructure using tools like Terraform to manage technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, and S3. The Staff Engineer will design and implement production-grade data storage platforms, plan and execute complex migrations, establish standards and build deterministic automation, and continually improve the on-call experience.
Role involves:

Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience with software development and architecture.
- Strong ability to write code at a software developer level.
- 4+ years of experience working in depth with database technologies like MySQL or Postgres.
- 4+ years of experience working with data streaming technologies, particularly Kafka.
- Strong work ethic and self-starter attitude.
- Systems Thinking approach to complex systems.
- Resilient problem solver.
- Effective communicator.
