Job Description
Gusto is seeking a FinTech & Payments Compliance Lead to oversee compliance activities for its consumer financial products, commercial financial services, and payments offerings. This role reports to the Head of Financial Services Compliance and is crucial in developing and scaling Gusto's compliance program. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a deep understanding of financial services compliance, particularly in consumer protection, payments, and banking regulations.
The role involves:
- Providing compliance guidance on complex regulations in lending, embedded finance, and payments.
- Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, and Compliance teams on new product launches.
- Enhancing Gusto’s Compliance Management Program.
- Managing FinTech & Payments change management processes.
- Conducting product- and partner-specific program requirements.
- Supporting vendor onboarding, risk assessments, and due diligence reviews.
- Serving as a liaison with Gusto’s Payments and FinTech banking partners.
- Overseeing consumer protection and Payments compliance controls.
- Implementing and overseeing product compliance monitoring, training, risk assessments, and third-party audits.
- Enhancing compliance controls, policies, and documentation.
- Supporting compliance examinations and regulatory inquiries.
- Identifying, escalating, and resolving compliance issues.
Requirements:
- 8-10+ years of relevant compliance experience in an in-house legal, compliance, or risk function.
- Proven experience in building and scaling compliance programs.
- Strong expertise in financial services and payments compliance.
- Familiarity with consumer protection regulations TILA, TISA, FDCPA, FCRA, ECOA, Reg E, UDAAP, and NACHA.
- Experience in compliance risk management program development.
- Ability to remediate compliance gaps and address audit findings.
