Mr D - Senior Merchandising Associate

Job Description

Mr D, a division of Takealot.com Group, is seeking a Senior Merchandising Associate to join their team in Cape Town. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, hyper-growth environment and contribute to the company's success. The Senior Merchandising Associate will report to the Head of Retail for Mr D and will be responsible for owning merchandising efforts across the Mr D On-Demand vertical, ensuring the delivery of commercial objectives. Role involves:

• Owning merchandising and promotional strategy
• Driving merchandising to maximize partner discoverability and conversion
• Creating and executing a Merchandising Calendar
• Maximizing the usage of the Mr D app merchandising inventory
• Running cross-departmental sessions
• Managing merchandising team, planning sessions and calendars
• Working closely with advertising and product teams
• Continuously refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Collaborating with the BI team to develop new merchandising metrics

Requirements:

• Attention to detail in a high-pressure environment
• Comfortable working with analytics tools, e-commerce dashboards, and app platforms
• Capacity to work closely with cross-functional teams
• Keen awareness of industry trends, competitors, and customer behavior
• Proficiency in analyzing merchandising data, user preferences, and market trends
• Strong desire and unwavering determination to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment
• Ability to articulate and visualize insights, findings, and results effectively
• A proactive and enterprising spirit
• Highly skilled with numbers, showcasing strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• A dependable and enthusiastic team player
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in an Ecommerce Marketplace Environment/Online B2B or Retail
• A minimum of 1-2 years leading a team (beneficial)
