Job Description

xAI is in search of a skilled Network Development Engineer to contribute to its mission of creating AI systems that understand the universe. The ideal candidate will be an expert in wireless networks, proficient with OSPF, BGP, layer 2 protocols, and adept at using Python for automation. This role primarily involves designing and operating the data center wireless infrastructure that supports the company's GPU clusters.

The Network Development Engineer will collaborate with the team by creating detailed designs and runbooks for operations and deployments, automating repetitive tasks, and assisting the corporate network team with wireless network design for new office locations. They will also help build and operate front-end, training, and ancillary networks inside and outside the data centers, participating in an on-call rotation to maintain compute availability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and optimizing large-scale wireless networks.
  • RF survey, planning, deployment, optimization, and operations.
  • Troubleshooting common layer 1-3 network issues.
  • Creating detailed designs and runbooks for operations and deployments.
  • Automating repetitive tasks using Python scripts.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience designing and optimizing large-scale wireless networks.
  • Deep knowledge of IEEE .11 standards and security protocols.
  • 2-3 years of experience writing statement of work (SoW) documents.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with troubleshooting common layer 1-3 network issues.
