Job Description

xAI is seeking a Backend AI Engineer to join their DeepSearch team. This role focuses on enhancing Grok DeepSearch and related search products. The engineer will build systems from the ground up, impacting user experience and contributing to AI model and system quality.

The Backend AI Engineer will be exposed to both cutting-edge research and user-facing products. The ideal candidate will have experience with consumer-facing product growth and modern Search and RAG systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and optimizing AI models and systems for deep web exploration.
  • Crafting product features and interfaces for Grok search.
  • Advancing AI search through research and real-world iteration.
  • Deploying agent ideas to support DeepSearch products.
  • Collaborating with research, engineering, and product teams.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with consumer-facing product growth
  • Experience working on modern Search and RAG systems
  • Experience with developing real world agent systems and products
  • Strong background in algorithms and data structures relevant to search, such as inverted indices, vector space models, and ranking algorithms
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and infrastructure for scalable search deployments
  • Ability to work independently and drive projects forward in a fast-paced environment
