Job Description

xAI is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to join their Go-To-Market (GTM) team. This role involves working on critical product integrations for key partners and high-impact initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and a startup-oriented mindset, functioning as a CTO within a dynamic team.

The Forward Deployed AI Engineer will deliver end-to-end solutions, understand user pain points, scope product specifications, and design and build LLM-powered software. They will also work on frontend/backend integration, add logging/metrics for user activity, benchmark models, improve model performance, analyze request logs, build internal tooling, and enhance xAI SDKs and developer documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver solutions end-to-end that meet customer needs.
  • Work on frontend/backend integration for an exceptional end-user experience.
  • Add logging/metrics for user activity and retention.
  • Benchmark models and help write evals for customers.
  • Improve model performance through system prompt tuning or fine-tuning models.
  • Analyze request logs or reading through prompt data.
  • Build internal tooling to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Improve xAI SDKs or developer documentation based on customer feedback.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience preferred.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience in AI or machine learning product implementation with APIs, back-end, and front-end interfaces.
  • Experience in Rust, Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Understanding of the HTTP protocol.
  • Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Data Science.
