Platform Operations Engineer​

Job Description

Bottomline, a global leader in business payments and cash management, is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to join their team in Theale, UK. The Platform Operations Engineer will play a crucial role in building out the platform capabilities. He will collaborate with team members to deliver technical, process, and organizational changes, as well as improvements in line with the strategy and vision of Bottomline's product development and operations group.

• Configuring and reviewing alerting for rapid incident notification and resolution.
• Setting up dashboards to facilitate solution and service monitoring.
• Configuring and delivering new services on the platform.
• Creating, validating, and updating runbooks for standard changes.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce manual work through automation.
• Collaborating with the product team for new service design and providing feedback on potential improvements.
• Developing availability and uptime reporting and driving improvements in platform uptime.
• Creating, validating, and updating service recovery runbooks.
• Collaborating with application experts to deliver processes that facilitate "one-click" service recovery capabilities.
• Participating in the out-of-hours "on-call" rota for production issue incident response.

Requirements:

• Formal training in Computer Science or IT.
• Server administration experience on Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Gitlab, BitBucket, and Kubernetes.
• Experience configuring monitoring tools such as ELK, APM, Grafana.
• Experience implementing alerts.
• Experience working with API technologies.
• Comfortable with documentation.
• A strong desire to work in a technical environment.
• Ability to learn quickly (especially in a technical environment).
