Systems Engineer

Job Description

Bottomline is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their Infrastructure Engineering team. The Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, constructing, implementing, and supporting Bottomline's infrastructure and services, which are essential for deploying applications to private and public clouds. The role involves working closely with global team members to maintain infrastructure across ten data centers.

The role involves:

• Developing, enhancing, and maintaining core services within the private cloud infrastructure.
• Working with application, architecture, and platform teams to deliver solutions.
• Increasing the security, stability, and scalability of core services.
• Developing new pipelines and scripts to improve automation and software delivery.
• Training and mentoring junior team members.
• Contributing to the technology roadmap and identifying opportunities for improvements.
• Managing project timelines and documentation.
• Participating in an on-call schedule for out-of-hours support.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or similar work experience.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) languages such as Ansible, Chef, or Terraform.
• Advanced knowledge of physical systems including IPMI management and deployment automation.
• Experience with hypervisors and virtual machines.
• Scripting skills in Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of different operating systems.
• Background in systems administration.
