Job Description
OpenEye is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to contribute to the architecture, reliability, performance, and security of its data backend infrastructure for OpenEye Web Services (OWS). This role is ideal for a software engineer with a passion for data or a database engineer who enjoys coding.He/She will be responsible for:
  • Architecting and implementing scalable database solutions.
  • Maintaining and optimizing database performance and security.
  • Developing backend and data-centric software.
  • Collaborating with team members to resolve issues.
  • Reviewing development requests and making informed decisions.
  • Communicating complex data concepts to stakeholders.
  • Analyzing input requirements and devising optimal strategies.
  • Reviewing software code for compliance.
  • Providing guidance to other engineers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with software programming and databases.
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySql, AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, or similar.
  • Experience with BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar technology.
  • Proficiency in Java, C#, or similar programming language.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Advanced understanding of query execution plans and database performance tuning.
  • Exceptional data analytical skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong quality ethic and test-first attitude.
  • Great communication and teamwork skills.
