Junior Data Scientist/ML Engineer - Business Capability Platform (Apprenticeship) (f/m/d)

Job Description

Decathlon is seeking a Junior Data Scientist/ML Engineer apprentice to join their Business Capability Platform team in Paris. This role focuses on optimizing pricing strategies through innovative AI solutions. The apprentice will work within agile teams, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of AI-driven tools that enhance pricing decisions.

The role involves participating in all project stages, from initial scoping to final solution deployment, while adhering to best development practices. The apprentice will contribute to scaling data and machine learning solutions from proof of concept to fully deployed products. Initial tasks will include setting up data pipelines on AWS & Databricks, with increasing autonomy as skills develop.

Responsibilities include:

• Contributing to existing projects and conducting scientific reviews.
• Testing new methods on real-world use cases and implementing them in pipelines.
• Deploying models using quality engineering principles.
• Communicating analysis and results through visualizations and presentations.
• Adapting to the Decathlon tech stack: Python, Git, SQL, Spark, and Visualization.
• Developing and documenting analyses and models in a Lean and Agile manner.
• Making results available via user-friendly dashboards.
• Explaining the value of data to stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Strong engineering and coding skills, especially in Python.
• Ability to select appropriate ML methods for problem-solving.
• Understanding of Deep Learning, Feature engineering, and optimization algorithms.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience in large-scale data analysis via Spark.
• Familiarity with development tools: Git, Github, CI/CD, VSCode/Pycharm, Terminal.
• Experience with Docker, Airflow, MLflow, Databricks, Sagemaker.
• Experience in deploying ML solutions.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
