The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) is seeking a Racial Justice Center Director. The Director will be responsible for shaping and directing a new Racial Justice Center, the NYCLU’s homebase for thinking, writing, advocating, and organizing for racial equity in New York. This role involves establishing and implementing statewide strategies to address racial injustice through advocacy, research, organizing, lobbying, public education, and litigation. The Director will collaborate with the Executive Director to define strategic priorities and build partnerships with allied organizations, experts, and policymakers. Further responsibilities include managing and supervising Center staff, identifying revenue opportunities, and serving as a key external spokesperson on racial justice issues.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of responsibility in policy advocacy and/or litigation
  • 5+ years of progressive management experience
  • A graduate degree in a relevant field (preferred)
  • Analysis and knowledge of racial injustice and white supremacy in America
  • Success working with communities of color
  • Project and time management skills
  • Creative problem solving and strategic flexibility
  • Communications and research skills
