Platform - Site Reliability Engineer I (FinOps)

Job Description

Elastic is seeking a Cloud FinOps Engineer to join their team. In this role, the candidate will be crucial in developing and running tools and systems that enable internal teams to supervise their cloud spending efficiently and easily identify potential optimization. The focus will be on building, deploying, and maintaining solutions and driving company-wide FinOps practices.What this role involves:

• Designing, building, and maintaining tools and dashboards to provide real-time insights into cloud costs and usage.
• Developing automated solutions for supervising and reporting cloud spend across various teams and projects.
• Providing actionable recommendations for cost optimization, including resource right-sizing or waste identification.
• Working closely with engineering, finance, and product teams to understand their requirements and provide tailored cost management solutions.
• Assisting teams in interpreting their cost data and taking the right decisions on implementing best practices for better resource efficiency.
• Conducting training sessions and create documentation to empower teams with the knowledge to manage their own cloud spend effectively.
• Staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud computing and FinOps.
• Continuously improving processes, tools, and documentation to enhance cost visibility and control.
• Driving initiatives to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cost monitoring and reporting systems.

Requirements:

• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Proven experience in cloud infrastructure management, SRE, or FinOps roles.
• Strong desire to optimize resource usage in cloud environments and work on automation.
• Proficient in scripting and engineering automation solutions (e.g. in Python, Golang).
• Familiar with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
