Job Description
PhonePe Group is seeking an Engineering Manager - Backend to join their team in Bangalore. PhonePe is India’s leading digital payments company with 50 crore registered users and 3.7 crore merchants. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the engineering aspects of their team, driving engineering best practices, and maintaining the hygiene of production systems. They will also be responsible for the health of the business, stakeholder management, and hiring, mentoring, and retaining a best-of-class engineering team.
Role involves:
- Facilitating discussions and leading decision-making on all engineering aspects of the team
- Defining and executing engineering plans
- Driving engineering best practices
- Maintaining the hygiene of production systems
- Managing stakeholder relationships
- Hiring, mentoring, and retaining a best-of-class engineering team
Requirements:
- Proven skills in designing and developing simple to complex solutions
- Experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems
- Proven track record of building and managing high-performing software development teams
- Practical experience and ability to drive design and architecture of multiple subsystems
- BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent)
- 8+ years of software development experience and 3+ years in leading teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
