Job Description
Discord is seeking a Head of Public Policy for Latin America to build trust with policymakers in Brazil and other Latin American countries. This role, based in Sao Paulo or Brasilia, involves developing and executing government advocacy strategies, monitoring regulatory trends, and advocating for Discord's interests. The Head of Public Policy will report to the Head of Americas Public Policy.
What this role involves:
- Introducing Discord to government policymakers and civil society stakeholders.
- Developing and executing a multi-year government advocacy strategy.
- Identifying emerging trends in the regulation of online communications services.
- Advocating for Discord’s position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives.
- Providing context and support for the company’s responses to regulator inquiries.
- Promoting employee awareness and invite employee engagement on our public policy strategy and priorities.
- Engaging in public policy coalitions with peer companies and civil society organizations.
- Coordinating and driving compelling returns from the company’s partnerships with non-profits and civil society organizations.
- Managing the company’s government affairs consultants and advisors in Latin America.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional success in government or public policy advocacy.
- Experience developing and executing public policy advocacy campaigns in Brazil, with experience in other key markets (Mexico, Argentina, Chile) in the region a plus.
- Insight on the policymaking process in key markets throughout the region.
- Commitment to Discord’s mission.
- Willingness to travel within the region and to the U.S.
