Senior Software Engineer (Capacity and Cloud Economics Engineering)

Job Description

Affirm is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Capacity & Cloud Economics Engineering team. This role focuses on optimizing cloud infrastructure and distributed systems to ensure scalability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for delivering quarterly goals, leading engineers, and collaborating with product management, design, and analytics teams.Responsibilities:

• Owning and delivering quarterly goals for the team.
• Leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
• Identifying and solving project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Supporting the operations and availability of team artifacts.
• Fostering a culture of quality and ownership.
• Developing talent on the team.
• Assisting with right-sizing compute and data workloads.
• Providing technical guidance on capacity tuning.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with load testing frameworks like Locust or a similar framework.
• Experience defining a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component.
• Proficiency in making significant changes in a large code base.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
