Perplexity is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced search technologies. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing search quality and building core components of the search platform.Role involves:

• Pushing search quality forward.
• Architecting and building core components of the search platform.
• Training and evaluating retrieval, ranking, and classification models.
• Deploying models in a scalable and performant way.
• Building and optimizing RAG pipelines.
• Collaborating with Data, AI, Infrastructure, and Product teams.

Requirements:

• Deep understanding of search and retrieval systems.
• Proven track record with large-scale search or recommender systems.
• Experience with transformer-based models.
• Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of experience with ML design and infrastructure.
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership.
