Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Avionics Engineer to join their Neutron Flight Safety Systems team in Auckland, New Zealand. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development of Neutron, a new medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle. This role involves the delivery of Flight Safety Systems (FSS) avionics devices and subsystems, driving Flight Termination System (FTS) and navigation component qualification, acceptance testing, and certification activities.He/She will be part of a small, agile team and will be a technical leader, guiding and mentoring other engineers. The Senior Avionics Engineer will be at the forefront of one of Rocket Lab’s most important programs, encompassing all phases from development to operations.
  • Responsible for the delivery of Flight Safety Systems (FSS) avionics devices and subsystems.
  • Drive Flight Termination System (FTS) and navigation component qualification.
  • Perform acceptance testing and certification activities for the Neutron rocket.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in programming languages (e.g., C, C++ or Python).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
