Job Description
ZipRecruiter is seeking an R&D Team Leader to manage a team focused on Big Data applications. This role involves leading a team of engineers to build scalable and effective applications that connect job seekers with employers. The R&D Team Leader will own product lines, drive business value, and foster a culture of excellence within the team.
Responsibilities:
- Own the mission, execution, morale, and code quality of your team
- Partner effectively with product managers, other engineering leaders and Sr. technical staff to maintain and execute against the product roadmap
- Serve as a force multiplier for your team by removing roadblocks, identifying and implementing process improvements, and delegating effectively
- Actively build community and culture throughout the engineering organization
- Continually research and implement management best practices, including providing frequent, actionable, constructive feedback to team members
- Help drive the innovation and evolution of ZipRecruiter
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of engineering management experience
- 8+ years of experience in a fast-paced software development environment at scale
- Experience developing data-intensive applications
- Strong track record of delivering high-quality software while leading teams of 3 to 5 engineers
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaboration rather than pure authority
- Ability to make key decisions in a timely manner while simultaneously weighing the needs and input of multiple stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication, with a bias toward action and follow-through
- Being a People person - being able to lead a team of engineers and mentor them to grow and fulfill their career goals
