Rocket Lab is seeking a Flight Analysis Engineer to join their team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role is responsible for mission analysis, flight safety analysis, new vehicle analysis, and supporting recovery operations. The Flight Analyst will collaborate with internal departments and external agencies, contributing to the development of methods, software tools, and technical reports for flight safety, launch availability, and on-orbit operations. This supports both Electron mission operations and Neutron development. Rocket Lab is looking for someone with strong programming skills and a good understanding of launch vehicle flight dynamics.

What this role involves:

  • Developing flight analysis methods and assumptions.
  • Maintaining in-house flight analysis tools.
  • Developing and executing 6 DoF and 3 DoF simulations.
  • Developing statistical models.
  • Handling and analyzing large data sets.
  • Programming in Python and C++.
  • Improving in-house tools.
  • General modelling and simulation.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, science or equivalent qualification or 5+ years’ experience in engineering analysis.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
  • Good understanding of launch vehicle flight dynamics, orbital mechanics, and GNC.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and version control.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
