Systems Engineer II – Mechanical at Rocket Lab USA

Rocket Lab is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of complex mechanical systems for the Neutron launch vehicle. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within cross-functional teams, ensuring the seamless integration of all mechanical components and verifying that program requirements are met.He/She will play a pivotal role in technical assessment to optimize system performance and define process excellence for the project. They will thrive in an ambiguous environment and be eager to learn and grow within a high-performing team. This role offers exposure to a complex project from critical design through integration and launch.Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement complex mechanical systems for the Neutron launch vehicle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
• Demonstrate that program requirements are met through system verification.
• Optimize system performance through technical assessment.
• Define process excellence for the project.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of industry experience in the design, development, and test of mechanical systems in a relevant technical field (i.e. Structures, Fluid Systems, Mechanisms, Propulsion).
• Demonstrated experience in delivering complex multidisciplinary systems with hardware, embedded software, application software, and mechanical components.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and mentorship on projects from concept to completion.
• Strong desire to learn new material to solve difficult, ambiguous challenges.
