Smartsheet, a global leader in Collaborative Work Management, is seeking a Director of Engineering to join their expanding team in Bangalore, India. This role involves building capabilities to empower the world's largest companies to transform their approach to work, supporting teams that own identity and access, and features used by IT Administrators to manage and secure their users and their work. The Director will maximize strategic outcomes through execution and service operations, while fostering the career growth of engineers.
Responsibilities: - Accepting responsibility for impact, service availability, and team effectiveness.
- Challenging technical choices and business partners to maximize impact.
- Promoting continuous improvement and building learning organizations.
- Advocating for Agile, continuous delivery, and DevOps culture and processes.
- Evaluating and introducing the latest tools and strategies.
- Providing coaching and leadership in software best practices and automated test strategies.
- Articulating ideas effectively to various audiences.
- Building diverse teams and retaining talent.
- Balancing delivery and technical debt through refactoring.
Requirements: - 4+ years of microservice web application development.
- 10+ years of system architecture experience across at least 3 languages and frameworks.
- 3+ years of experience managing software organizations with >20 people.
- Experience with tools such as CloudFormation, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, etc.
- Experience with NoSQL, Relational Databases, and Object Store architectures.
- Experience building autoscaling, distributed systems.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals in API design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Training and experience with Agile and Lean methodologies.
- Legally eligible to work in India on an ongoing basis.
- Fluency in English is required.
