Senior Manager, Engineering - Public APIs (Remote Eligible in Bulgaria)

Job Description

Smartsheet, a global leader in Collaborative Work Management, is seeking a Senior Manager, Public APIs to lead a team in Bulgaria. This role involves the development and growth of Smartsheet’s public API offerings, enabling customers to integrate Smartsheet with other enterprise tools and create custom workflows.She will report to the Engineering Director, based in Bulgaria, and can work remotely within Bulgaria.What This Role Involves:

• Leading and managing a high-performing team of engineers.
• Defining and driving API strategy aligned with customer needs and business goals.
• Architecting and designing scalable, secure, high-performance API services.
• Fostering collaboration across engineering teams.
• Developing best practices for API development.
• Owning the API lifecycle from design to maintenance.
• Mentoring engineers and building a strong team.
• Reporting progress of API initiatives to senior leadership.
• Managing on-call rotations for critical API services.

Requirements:

• 10+ years in software development, 5+ in API development/management.
• 5+ years managing engineering teams with a strong mentoring record.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, security, versioning, and best practices.
• Proven experience in scalable architecture and cloud-based systems.
• Strong Agile experience and stakeholder communication skills.
• Passion for leadership and mentoring.
• Eligibility to work in Bulgaria long-term.
