Principal Data Scientist, Customer Outcomes

Job Description

Smartsheet is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to enhance customer engagement, expansion, and retention. This role involves working with the Customer Outcomes group as part of Smartsheet's Business Intelligence team. The position can be based in Bellevue, WA, or remotely within the US.Smartsheet is looking for someone who will:

• Understand customer needs and design metrics to analyze product usage.
• Partner with Customer Outcomes Journey and Customer Success teams to drive relevant insights.
• Develop solution and engagement analytics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Use AI and machine learning to identify growth opportunities and predict churn.
• Present data-based recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Lead strategy for undefined work and coordinate project activities.
• Research and incorporate machine learning models and NLP techniques.
• Mentor and support other BI team members.

The ideal candidate should have:

• An advanced degree in a quantitative field and 10+ years of experience (or 12+ years without the degree).
• Expert analytical skills for problem-solving.
• Expertise in SQL and data programming languages like R/Python, and visualization tools like Tableau.
• Extensive knowledge in Applied AI, machine learning, statistics, and NLP.
• B2B experience and understanding of customer problems and solutions.
• Experience impacting Sales, Customer Support, and Customer Success strategy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present data to senior leaders.
• Ability to research and learn new technologies.
