Rocket Lab is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer II - Mechanical to join their team in Auckland, New Zealand. The engineer will be responsible for the design, build, test, and commissioning of structures and mechanisms for launch sites, test sites, and mobile equipment. This role also involves project planning and close collaboration with technicians.Responsibilities
  • Design and develop aerospace systems
  • Create 2D & 3D models using CAD software
  • Analyse systems using hand calculations and numerical methods
  • Generate and maintain mechanical system schematics
  • Support system certification and maintenance programs
  • Work with test and ops teams to ensure system operability
  • Support installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Develop and execute test plans for launch pad system
  • Design, develop, and maintain test equipment
  • Analyse post-flight and post-test data
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years in aerospace or industrial engineering roles
  • Advanced skills in 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure, autonomous environments
  • Excellent communication abilities and capacity to build strong professional relationships
