Database Administrator

Job Description

Flow Traders is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join their expanding global team in Hong Kong. The Database Administrator will play a crucial role in the setup, management, and continuous improvement of Flow Traders' global database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience with MariaDB, particularly in tuning, troubleshooting, and scaling InnoDB-based systems. Familiarity with SQL Server and ClickHouse is a plus.Responsibilities include:

• Designing, deploying, and managing high-performance database instances.
• Optimizing query performance, schema design, and storage configuration.
• Building automation and monitoring for database availability and scalability.
• Collaborating with traders, quants, and developers to tune data pipelines.
• Troubleshooting complex issues under pressure.
• Evaluating and working with other data technologies.

Requirements:

• Experience in global high-uptime, high-throughput environments.
• In-depth experience with MariaDB, including InnoDB internals, tuning, replication, and backup strategies.
• Solid command of SQL and familiarity with stored procedures and performance profiling.
• Familiarity with Linux, system-level performance tuning, and resource management.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and strong communication skills.
