Job Description
Global Atlantic Financial Group is seeking a Senior Analyst to join their Statutory Accounting and Reporting team in Des Moines. This role involves preparing and analyzing statutory financial statements, management reports, and related disclosures. The Senior Analyst will collaborate with various teams, including Actuarial, Investment, Reinsurance, Tax, Legal, and Compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Learn about statutory reporting, reinsurance transactions, and regulatory filing processes.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile ledger to source information.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare quarterly and annual schedules for life and health insurance filings.
- Assist with external audits and examinations.
- Research and compile information for ad-hoc requests.
- Collaborate with team members to solve problems and research regulatory guidance.
- Identify and implement changes to improve schedules.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience in the insurance industry or public accounting.
- Experience in Statutory or US GAAP accounting preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and work ethic.
- Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger, Business Object Enterprise, Hyperion Financial Management Essbase, Wings, Workiva and Gain preferred.
