Rocket Lab is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to join their Space Systems team in Auckland. This role involves performing tracking, navigation, maneuver design, and collision avoidance within the Mission Control Center. The successful candidate will work alongside subject matter experts from various departments to solve complex problems under time-critical conditions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Performing tracking, navigation, and maneuver design.
- Handling collision avoidance tasks.
- Collaborating with experts from different departments.
- Solving complex problems under pressure.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Space Systems, or Software Engineering, or an equivalent Engineering or Applied Physics degree.
- An advanced understanding of orbital mechanics and orbit determination theory.
- Experience with mission analysis tools (STK, GMAT, Monte, Copernicus).
- Experience with orbit determination analysis tools (ODTK, Orekit).
- Proficiency in Python software development.
- Experience with Git release and version control.
- Familiarity with Jira software project management.
- Ability to work under time pressure and prioritize tasks.
