Job Description
Capco, a Wipro company, is seeking a Senior AWS Data Engineering Lead/SME to join their team in Pune or Bangalore. This role requires a blend of deep AWS data engineering expertise and strong technical leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native data solutions while working closely with customers and internal teams. They should be a hands-on builder who excels in clean architecture, automation, and team coordination.

Role involves:
  • Leading a growing team of AWS data engineers.
  • Acting as a lead SME, providing hands-on guidance to AWS Data Engineering teams.
  • Translating business and functional requirements into AWS well-architected technical solutions.
  • Owning end-to-end solution design, architecture, and delivery of data platforms and pipelines.
  • Providing technical leadership to the team and driving adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Designing and implementing robust, scalable data pipelines using AWS services.
  • Developing large-scale data transformations using PySpark and Python.
  • Building infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, etc.
  • Using Git for version control and managing collaborative code development workflows.
  • Working directly with customers to understand their needs and translate them into technical deliverables.
  • Coordinating across teams to ensure smooth execution, delivery timelines, and system integrations.

Requirements:
  • 7-10+ years of hands-on experience of AWS data engineering and solution delivery.
  • Strong expertise with core AWS services including Glue, S3, Lambda, Iceberg, Athena, SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL for data processing and ETL workloads.
  • Proven experience in ETL/ELT pipeline development, performance tuning, and large-scale data handling.
  • In-depth knowledge of event-driven architectures and AWS messaging services.
  • Solid infrastructure knowledge and hands-on experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to gather customer requirements and convert them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating engineering teams in delivery-focused environments.
