Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Integrated Electrical Systems Engineer to join their team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role is pivotal in the end-to-end development of spacecraft missions, spanning requirements definition, electrical architecture design, harness design, system modelling, power and energy budget management, integrated testing, and on-orbit operations support.

The Senior Integrated Electrical Systems Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and optimize electrical architectures and design complex wiring harnesses. They will utilize advanced modelling tools to ensure robust performance in space, oversee build and testing processes, and ensure all functional and performance requirements are met.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with flight hardware and design electrical systems that will be launched into space.

What the role involves:

  • Defining mission and system requirements to support mission objectives
  • Developing technical budgets and systems analysis to ensure vehicle performance and reliability
  • Designing spacecraft electrical architectures and harnesses
  • Defining, implementing, and carrying out subsystem and system-level test plans and procedures for requirements verification and validation
  • Guiding technicians and determining integration flow for optimal spacecraft build and assembly
  • Collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop end-to-end solutions
  • Providing program support to team leads and program managers

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) specifically on aerospace/satellite development programs.
  • Proficiency in electronics principles and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with instrumentation, interfaces, and sensors.
  • Proficiency with programming languages, scripting tools, and automation (C/C++, Python preferred).
  • Proficiency in systems engineering tools (e.g JAMA), simulation software (e.g. Simulink, STK) and programming languages (e.g. Python, Matlab)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
